Terms of service

These terms cover your use of characterchart (characterchart.com, "the service"), run by TOMI, an independent developer in Japan ("we"). By using the service you agree to them. Questions: contact@soukanzu.jp.

The service

characterchart is a browser tool for making character relationship charts. You can use it without an account. With an account you can save charts, open them on other devices, share read-only links and buy exports or a plan.

Accounts

Give a real email address you can receive sign-in links at, and keep access to it secure. You're responsible for what happens under your account. One account is for one person.

Plans and payments

• Free: every editing tool except Text and Group, 3 saved charts, 1 active share link, and a 2× PNG export with a watermark.
• Single-chart export: a one-time $8 payment for one saved chart in the account that bought it. It covers a 4× PNG without a watermark, SVG, PDF and print. It continues to cover that chart after you edit it, as long as the chart stays saved. It doesn't change your plan or limits, and a copy or a new chart needs its own purchase.
• Plus and Pro: subscriptions billed monthly or yearly that renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time from Manage billing in the account menu. Paid features stay available until the end of the period you've paid for.

Prices are shown in US dollars on the pricing page and may include taxes where required. Stripe processes all payments. We may change prices for future billing periods, and we'll tell subscribers before a change takes effect.

Refunds

Exports and plan features are delivered right away, so payments are generally non-refundable, including partial subscription periods. If something went wrong, such as a duplicate charge, an export that never worked, or an outage that kept you from using what you paid for, email contact@soukanzu.jp within 14 days and we'll make it right. This doesn't limit any rights you have under the law where you live.

Your charts

You own what you make. You can use your charts for any purpose, including commercial work such as published books, client projects and paid content. To run the service, you give us permission to store, process and display your charts. That covers showing a shared chart to anyone you send its link to.

You're responsible for what you put in your charts, including names and any photos you upload. Only upload images you have the right to use.

Acceptable use

Don't use the service to:

• break the law, or harass, threaten or expose real people (for example by posting their private information);
• share content that infringes someone else's rights, or sexual content involving minors;
• attack, overload or probe the service, or get around plan limits, payment or the watermark;
• resell the service itself.

We may remove share links or suspend accounts that break these rules. We'll tell you why when we reasonably can.

Availability and backups

We work to keep the service running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. Keep your own copies of important charts: in Advanced mode you can download a JSON backup, and any chart can be exported. We may change or stop features. If we ever shut down the service, we'll give reasonable notice so you can export your charts.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranties beyond those the law requires. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may end or suspend access for serious or repeated breaches of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes go to the courts with jurisdiction over the operator's location in Japan, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and announce significant changes on the site or by email. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept the updated terms.
